Discipleship

At CBM, we want to give our people a strong vision for making talmidim (disciples).  We want our environment to be one where peoples lives are constantly being poured into each other.  Strong discipleship relationships are ingrained into the fabric of Biblical and traditional Jewish history.  Why is discipleship so important?  Because God’s truth is something that effects real life.  Faith is living and active and is ideally passed on by example and from one generation to the next.  From the principles of the Shema to Yeshua and the Twelve we stand on firm ground and a long history as we emphasize the importance of one believer investing deeply into the life of another.

 General Principles of Discipleship

  1. We will aim to build a mentality at CBM to think about discipleship in terms of the 3rd generation.  In other words, we want to produce disciples who have a vision to produce disciples who will have a vision to produce disciples.
  2. We will aim to promote life on life discipleship.  In other words, we want to see people investing their lives in other people in order to encourage each other to grow into the likeness of Yeshua.  We are speaking of relationships that go even deeper than what will take place in the Home Group setting.  We are talking about one on one relationships where one believer pours their life into that of another to see them move forward in living and enjoying the life of Yeshua.

To implement these principles, we will…

  1. Teach about them regularly from the pulpit.
  2. Teach about them regularly in Home Groups.
  3. Provide structures that cultivate life on life discipleship.
  4. Model it (live it) among the leadership here at CBM.
