How to become a member
We are grateful that you are interested in learning how to become a member of Congregation Beth Messiah! CBM has chosen to use the Biblical concept of “covenant” to represent our membership agreement. It is a picture of the expectations of “individual” and “congregation” to one another. Although a formal “membership” process is not found in Scripture, we feel the principles we have organized in our membership covenant express the high level of commitment that Scripture indicates that believers are expected to maintain in relation to a local congregation.
CBM members are persons who:
1. Profess faith in Yeshua the Messiah.
2. Have been immersed (baptized) in water after having become a believer.
3. Personally agree with the entire CBM Membership Statement of Faith.
4. Have read through the CBM Doctrinal Statement. To become a member of CBM, we do not require members to agree with every doctrinal point in the CBM Doctrinal Statement. However, to become a member of CBM you must agree to not teach or propagate any doctrinal point contrary to those expressed in the document in the context of the congregation. To “propagate” such a point would mean that one is making an effort to convince others in the congregation to hold such a viewpoint.
5. Agree to the CBM Membership Covenant.
6. Fill out the CBM Membership Questionnaire.
7. Have a membership interview with an elder and/or go through the membership class.
